Intermediate Cross-Country

There were individual and team medals for Carrick AC athletes at the County Intermediate Cross-Country championships held at The Turnpike on Sunday last. Carrick's Brian Murphy and Tony Fogarty of Thurles Crokes have had some titanic battles in recent weeks, including last week's Novice Championships. These two athletes again dominated proceedings on Sunday with Tony gaining the upper hand close home to complete the cross-country double.Brian will be well pleased with a second silver medal in his debut year at this demanding discipline and both men will head to the Munster Novice Championships in Dungarvan next Sunday in top form.
The team event was won by Thurles Crokes with Coolquill in second place.Carrick AC took the bronze medals with some impressive performances. Our second man home was Tommy Falconer in 12th place while Darragh Byrne made an excellent return to the cross-country scene in finishing 15th.Mark Connolly completed the team's points with James Fox and Brendan Cronin also putting in strong performances.Well done to all six of our runners.
