County Silver for Brian
The Tipperary 'Novice' Cross-Country Championships were held in perfect conditions at Longford Pass on Sunday last.The men's race saw a thrilling finish between Tony Fogarty (Thurles Crokes) and our own Brian Murphy. The pair were locked together entering the final stretch, but it was Tony who proved just the stronger in the sprint to the line to secure the gold medal. This was a highly impressive cross-country debut from Brian,however, and no doubt these two athletes will again cross swords at the county intermediates next Sunday at The Turnpike.Third place went to Danny Smith (Ballynonty), while Carrick AC also had very good performances from Tommy Falconer, James Fox, Mark Connolly and Brendan Cronin.
'My Dress' 1-mile Challenge
The fourth week of this years challenge saw some very impressive performances with many runners continuing to improve their times for the mile. Tommy Falconer became the first athlete to break the five-minute barrier (4:59).Grace Tobin and Samantha Tobin have now improved their times by more than two minutes over just four weeks.
