Supervalu Winter League
Our fourth annual Winter League,sponsored by Supervalu Carrick-on-Suir,got underway on Tuesday night last in Kildalton College, Piltown.There was a great turnout of ninety runners for this first night with an encouraging number of newcomers and graduates from our Autumn One-mile Challenge as well as many familiar faces from previous years.All runners will be grouped at an appropriate level over the coming weeks as the handicap system kicks in and there will also be prizes up for grabs. We would ask all runners to volunteer for stewarding or recording times on at least one of the thirteen weeks.A rota will be available at this week's run. The action commences at 7pm every Tuesday- just remember to wear a high-visibility vest and bring your number!
Masters' Silver For Daragh
Thurles Crokes hosted the County Masters' Cross-Country Championships on Sunday last with perfect underfoot conditions on a fast, flat course.The Ladies' race was won by Angela McCann (Clonmel AC) while Kenny Curran took the Men's race.There was a great performance here from our own Daragh Byrne to finish fifth overall and take the silver medal in the O/35 category. Our team finished fourth on 65 points, with James Fox(17th), Mark Connolly(21st), Brendan Cronin (22nd) and Andrew Downey(26th) all running very well.
Dublin City Marathon
Several of our members have been very busy over the past months in preparation for this year's Dublin City Marathon and all in the club wish our representatives the very best of luck. We will have a full report on the race next week.
