Club Notes 14 June 2009

Dave Fogarty 4 miles

The annual Dave Fogarty Race over four miles was held in Thurles on Friday night last and resulted in another fine victory for the in-form Sergiu Ciobanu of Clonliffe Harriers witha time of 19:33. Christy O' Brien of Thurles Crokes came second just ahead of his clubmate Tony Fogarty.Carrick Roadrunners' first finisher was James Fox in 23rd place (23:39), taking second prize in the O-35 category. Cornelius McFadden had a very good run also, finishing 32nd in a time of 24:26.Our third man home was Brian Nugent who clocked 33 minutes, finishing in 97th place.

Our four ladies put in fine runs with Niamh Clifford (30:31) finishing just ahead of Jane Evans (30:49).Jane secured second prize in the O-45 section with this excellent run.Ann Cronin is returning to her best form and clocked in at 31:04 while Susan Collins also ran very well with a time of 40:48. Well done to all our runners.

 

 

Clashmore '5'

A large field of runners turned out for the latest race in the Ger Wyley Sports/Nike Summer Series in Clashmore on Friday last. John Cleary of Ferrybank AC led the 206 athletes home in a time of 26:04.Philip Harty (West Waterford) took second place ahead of Rory Moloney.Our own Tommy Falconer was 37th with a time of 31:26. Anthony Grace was 43rd (31:51) and Jimmy Power had a good run to finish in 41:00, just in front of our only lady participant, Geraldine Houlihan. Mick O' Shea came home in 41:47 to complete the Carrick quintet.

 

Ballynonty Summer Series

Tommy Falconer and Ann Cronin made the journey to Ballynonty on Tuesday last for the 2-mile race in their summer series. Tommy came fourth in 11:35 while Ann sped home in 14:38 - very good times from both. They will move up to three miles this week and finish with one -mile relays next week.
