Ballinroad 5k

The eleven-race series of road races organised annually by West Waterford AC got off to a great start on Friday evening last when almost 300 runners lined up for the Ballinroad 5k race. The fast, flat course produced some very fast times and victory in the men's race went to David Mansfield (Garda AC) in 15:46. In second place was Noel Murphy (Waterford AC) in 16:17. Carrick AC's Aaron O' Donnell put up a superb performance to finish third in a personal best time of 16:19. Aaron showed great judgement of pace in the first half of the race and held off a strong challenge from Sandis Bralitis (West Waterford AC) to take third prize. Brendan Cronin ran very well to clock 19:00 while Mark Connolly finished in 20:06. In the ladies' race, Carrick AC's Mary Molloy continued her good recent form when taking fifth place behind the winner, Sally Forristal (St. Joseph's AC) with a fine run in 20:11. Ann Cronin also ran a very good race to finish in 24:45. Well done to all our runners.

Splashworld 10K

Brian Murphy ran an excellent race in the Splashworld 10K race in Tramore last Sunday - winning the race in a great time of 33 minutes and 41 seconds. Our other club representative at this race was Seamus Ward who ran a very good time of 43 minutes and 7 seconds. Well done to both of our runners.

Fitzgerald Accounting Faugheen 5k

The Faugheen 5k, which will once again be sponsored by Bobby Fitzgerald Accounting, Carrick-on-Suir, takes place on Friday 24th April. This will be the first of five races in this year's Outfield Sports Three-Counties Challenge. The series takes in races in Tipperary, Waterford and Kilkenny and progresses in distances from 5km to 10km. A full preview of the series can be seen on the club's website www.carrickroadrunners.ie or on our facebook page. Runners are reminded that registration for the Faugheen 5k will close at 6:50pm as the race must start at 7pm sharp due to another event in the locality. Runners' co-operation with this arrangement will help ensure the smooth running of the race and will be greatly appreciated.
