Bobby Fitzgerald Accounting Faugheen 5k This Friday

The 2015 OutfieldSports.ie Three-Counties Challenge gets underway this Friday evening, April 24th, with the third running of the Faugheen 5k road race which is again kindly sponsored by Bobby Fitzgerald Accounting, Carrick-on-Suir. The race is run over a very fast, flat course which affords participants a wonderful opportunity to achieve a personal best time for the 5k distance. The route is accurately measured and the event has a full AAI permit. Race entry costs €10 (or €40 for the five-race series, saving 20%) and race registration will be in the parish hall beside the church from 5:30pm. The race will get underway just outside the village at 7 pm sharp as there will be a parish event in the village immediately after our race.Registration will close at 6:50pm so runners are advised to arrive in good time. Last year saw 167 runners take part in this event and they were led home by Sergiu Ciobanu (Clonliffe Harriers) in a course record time of 15:02. The ladies' race was won by Siobhan O' Doherty (Borrisokane) in 17:10, also a course record. There will be prizes in all the usual age categories and every runner who completes at least four of the five races this year will receive a €25 voucher from Outfield Sports for New Balance runners. Also, all non-prizewinning participants will be entered into a draw for a pair of men's and ladies' New Balance runners, valued at €130, at each race in this year's series.
Post-race refreshments and prize-giving will take place in Fleming's bar in the village.
