Carrick Road Runners Athletic Club, Co. Tipperary, Ireland

Ballycotton  '10'

The recent Ballycotton 10-mile road race in Co. Cork once again attracted a huge field of almost 3,000 runners. The race was won by Sergiu Ciobanu (Clonliffe Harriers) in a time of 49:03. Maria McCambridge (DSD AC) took the ladies' race in 54:20. Two Carrick AC members made the long trip and were rewarded with very good times. Both Andrew Downey (62:26) and Ger Murphy (76:39) used the race as part of their training schedule for upcoming marathons. We wish both of our runners all the best in their preparations for the Boston and Waterford Viking marathons.

Spring Training Schedule

After a break for St. Patrick's Day, our spring training sessions will resume on Tuesday next, 24th March, when we will assemble at the Carrick Davin Club at 7pm for a training run (c. 5km) around the town. On the following Tuesday, 29th March, we will begin a series of training sessions over the routes of the five races in this year's 3-Counties Challenge, starting in Faugheen. Expert running coach, James O' Sullivan, will attend these sessions with invaluable advice on how to approach the races. For insurance purposes these sessions are only open to Carrick AC members, so if you have not already signed up, please do so now. Membership application forms are available from any of the committee members or at Outfield Sports, Main Street.
