County Intermediate Road Championships

 
Well done to Patrick Roche, our club's sole representative at the Tipperary Intermediate Road Championships held recently in Galbally. Patrick ran a solid race to finish in a time of 31:17 and in nineteenth place overall behind the winner, Mike Cunningham from Mooreabbey .
 
County Masters Road Championships
 
The Tipperary Masters road race was held over a new 6km course in Fethard on Sunday and there was a very good turnout of about 100 athletes. Our club had five runners in the men's race which was won by Stuart Moloney. First Carrick AC finisher was Andrew Downey who came home in a time of 23:09. Just a couple of seconds behind Andrew came Brendan Cronin, who ran a superb race to take the silver medal in the O/50 category. Tom Egan, Mark Connolly and James Fox also ran very well in representing the club. Well done to all our runners.
 
Dungarvan 10k
 
There was a field of 114 athletes for the annual Dungarvan 10k on Sunday and Carrick AC's Brian Murphy had a comfortable victory in a time of 33:13 . Danny Smith (Ballynonty AC) was second in 34:13. Carrick AC's second finisher was Patrick Roche, who clocked a time of 38:15. Geraldine Houlihan, our club's only runner in the ladies' race, took the O/50 category first prize in a time of 55:31.  
 
Kilmacthomas '5'
 
There was a fine turnout of 223 runners for the annual Kilmacthomas 5-mile race on Sunday week last. Andrew Connick (Ferrybank AC) took the men's race in 25:55 and Grace McConnell (Ballyroan/Abbeyleix) won the ladies' race in 31:41. Brendan Cronin was the first Carrick AC finisher in 31:11. Ann Cronin (41:48) and Ger Houlihan (43:05) ran very well for Carrick AC in the ladies' event.
 
Spring Interval Training
 
Interval training sessions continue this Tuesday, 24th February, at the all-new tartan running track behind the Sean Kelly Sports Centre. Fitness coach, James Sullivan, will be on hand to offer expert advice to runners of all abilities. Warm-up starts at 7:15pm and the interval session at 7:30pm.
