SuperValu Winter League On The Way!

Carrick AC is very pleased to announce that the very popular Winter League, kindly sponsored by SuperValu, Carrick-on-Suir, will commence with a registration evening at Kildalton College, Piltown on Tuesday, September 23rd . As in previous years there will be a one-off registration fee of €5 for each runner and thereafter the entry fee will be just €3 per week for club members and €5 per week for non-members. Club membership forms will be available at registration.

This league is run over a very safe and well-lit five kilometre route within the college grounds. It affords seasoned runners, novices and complete beginners the ideal opportunity to meet and train at a time of year when it can be difficult to train consistently on the roads due to the shortened hours of daylight. Registration will be from 6:30 pm on Tuesday, September 23rd when runners may avail of the opportunity to have a trial run over the course. On the following Tuesday, September 30th, there will be a 'mass start' and all runners will be timed over the 5 km distance. For the remaining ten weeks of the league, a handicap system will be put in place where groups of runners will start at two-minute intervals. The league will continue every Tuesday with the first group of runners starting at 7 pm sharp. The final run will take place on Tuesday, December 9th.

Carrick AC would like to thank SuperValu, Carrick-on-Suir for their continued sponsorship of the league and Kildalton College for the use of their grounds and facilities. Please remember that a reflective bib/vest must be worn during all Winter League runs. For further information please contact Susan (087-2931430) or Mark (086-1608165).

Another Win for Brian Murphy

Well done to club member, Brian Murphy on his victory in the recent 6k Run in Ballybeg. Brian's time was 18:31 just ahead of Trevor Power who clocked 18:34 in second place. Brian also had a fine run in the County Tipperary 10-mile road championship where he finished in fourth place (55:20) behind the race winner William Maunsell from Clonmel AC.
