'My Dress' One-Mile Challenge
 
The popular series of one-mile runs at the Sean Kelly Sports Centre which has become a regular warm-up for our winter league concludes on this Tuesday evening, September 25th at 6:45pm. The club is very grateful for the continued support of 'My Dress', Carrick-on-Suir for this series. Going into the final run the fastest time recorded so far has been Tommy Falconer's 5:20. Next fastest is Tom Doherty (5:39) ahead of Andrew Downey (5:50). Among the other athletes who have shown significant improvement in their times are Sean O' Donovan (7:00), Niamh Clifford (7:02), Ann Cronin (7:16) and Brian Nugent (7:18). Our best improver among the newcomers to running has been Amy Harris who has got her time for one mile down to 8:07.  Next week's notes will include a full report and list of prize-winners.
 
Supervalu Winter League
 
The Supervalu Winter League will commence in Kildalton College, Piltown on Tuesday evening next, October 2nd with a registration night.The league will continue each Tuesday, concluding on December 11th and the cost per week is €3. The distance of 5km is along the well-lit avenue of the college and runners will be graded into groups using a handicap system with the fastest runners starting in the last group each week. All participants are reminded that a hi-viz top must be worn every week to ensure everyone's safety. Race results 
 
Well done to Martina O' Dwyer who made a welcome return to racing on Sunday last, finishing second in the Kilsheelan 10k with a time of 40:16. Tommy Falconer also enjoyed a very good run in Kilsheelan, clocking 37:31.
At the annual St. Senan's Cross-Country event in Kilmacow, Patrick Roche put in a fine run to finish in tenth place. Well done to all our runners.
