John Joe Barry 5k          
 
On Friday evening last, the JohnJoe Barry 5km road race was held in The Commons.Victory in the men's race went to Shane Mullaney (Thurles Crokes) in a time of 16:18.Ross Alexander (Coolquill) was second in 16:42 ahead of Michael Ryan (Dundrum) in 17:07.First Carrick athlete to finish was David Waters who was sixth in a very good time of 17:34.Just three seconds behind David came Patrick Roche in seventh.Our next man home was Paddy Kerwick in 19:45 followed by Raymond Burke (20:25), Andrew O' Meara (20:29) and Paul O' Donnell (23:07).
The ladies' race was won by Margaret Danagher (Templemore) in18:16.The fourth lady to finish was Carrick's Clare Anann in 20:00. Teresa Cunningham finished in a time of 22:05 while Ann Cronin took first prize in the O/45 category with a time of 23:24. Sandra O' Neill also had a good run to finish in 26:11.Well done to all our runners.
 
Prestige Lighting Fit-for-Life                        
 
The Prestige Lighting-sponsored Fit-for-Life programme continues every Tuesday evening from Kildalton College,Piltown at 7pm.Runners have been taking advantage of the good weather to prepare for the upcoming series of races organised by our own club or simply to get fit.With a variety of routes and training groups to choose from, there is something for everyone and all are welcome.
