  One Mile Challenge

Last week saw the conclusion of this year's mile challenge take place, all of the runner's who took part improved their their times significantly over the course of the five weeks. Patrick Roche was knocked off the top position on the last night by Tommy Falconer who was progressing steadily after recovering from a knee injury. Martina O'Dwyer was the fasted lady over the five weeks, and her sister Amanda who has just recently taken up running is the best improver in the beginners category.Also new to running is Sean O'Donovan and he takes 2nd place in the beginners category.

Results for best improver in each category
Advanced - 1st. Tommy Falconer (5.05) an improvement of 29 sec. Intermediate - 1st. Ned Crowe (7.49) an improvement of 20 sec. Beginners - 1st. Amanda O'Dwyer (9.55)) who improved by 60 sec.

WLR FM Run for life 
Sunday October 17th
 
This year the WLR FM run for life attracted a large field of runner's, each participant had to raise money for the new solas center in Waterford. The winner this year of the 10 mile race was Brian Murphy (Carrick AC) in an impressive time of 53.44, first home for the ladies was Diane Behan (Waterford AC) in 63.58. Carrick AC had two other runners, Matt Greene and Gordon Collins who had a very good run for his first 10 mile road race and finished in a time 1hr15mins.
