THE CHAMPION KIELY BALLYNEALE 5K
FRIDAY 2nd JULY 2010

Friday last saw the second race of the Outfield Sports/Ascics 3 counties challenge get underway in ideal weather conditions with almost 190 runners lining up.The village of Ballyneale just outside Carrick-on-Suir was host to the 5k road race which is a flat, fast course and has been running for a number of years now.

The race was won by Sergiu Ciobanu (Clonliffe Harriers) in a time of 14.54.In second place was Carrick AC Brian Murphy in 15.32, and third place went to Dwaine Farrell (Tinryland) 15.48. In the ladies race first home was Carrick AC- Martina O' Dwyer 17.45 who is having a great season so far. Second place went to Angela McCann (Clonmel AC) 18.17 and third went to Diane Behan (Waterford AC) 18.54.The mens team prize went to Carrick AC -Michael Murphy,David Waters,Tommy Falconer.The ladies team prize went to Clonmel AC- Catherine Rice,Martina Walsh,Miriam O' Gorman.

The Carrick-on-Suir club had a good turnout with forty three runners taking part on the night. The club would like to thank Cornelius McFadden for his time and dedication in organising the race, and everyone in the parish of Ballyneale for their part in putting up the marquee and for their hospitality,it is very much appreciated. Thanks to the Red Cross for their assistance ,to the stewards and the Ballyneale GAA club for the use of the grounds.Also thanks to Outfield Sports for supporting the Three Counties Challenge.

Next race in the series will be in Co. Kilkenny for the Morris Oil Piltown 10k Friday 16th July @7.30
Registration will be in the Piltown GAA Complex from 6pm.
