Anne Valley 5 Mile Challenge
363 runners took on the Anne Valley 5 Mile Challenge in Dunhill, Co Waterford last Saturday. Patrick Flynn of Ferrybank AC was first home in a time of 26:32, closely followed by Carrick's Brian Murphy in 26:57.
Carrick runners who took part in the event were: Tom Hogan (34:37), Tommy Browne (39:01), Jimmy Power (40:18), Geraldine Houlihan (43:43), Paddy O'Neill (44:15), Jeanette O'Neill (1:02:03) & Mary Flynn (1:05:17). Well done to all!
Tipperary Novice Road Championships – Martina takes Gold!!!
The Novice Road Championships were held in Clonmel last Sunday 14th February, the course was over 3K for the ladies competition and 6K for the mens. Martina O'Dwyer from Carrick was first home in this fast Ladies competition in 11:07. A well deserved gold for Martina. The Ladies competition was well represented for Carrick with Elaine Walsh (13:02), Catherine O Donovan (14:23) and Jackie Dunne (14:30) running. Carrick Ladies also took the bronze medal in the team competition.
Tommy Faulconer (21:25), Patrick Roche (21:27), Brendan Cronin (22:28), Mark Connolly (23:00) & Tom Egan (23:57) took part in the mens competition.
Super Valu Winter League finishes – Fit4Life starts
The Winter league draws to a close for another year with a mass start on Tues 16th February. The prize giving will be held this Friday the 19th February in the Strand bar at 9pm.
Fit4Life training group will commence on Tues 2nd March, prior to this an information and registration night will be held on Tues 23 February both at Kildalton College at 7pm. Fit4Life is an ideal environment for anyone who wants to get fit and start running to come along and train with others of the same ability. It is also an opportunity for regular runners to meet and train together.
