MALLOW 10 MILER - BRIAN MURPHY FINISHES 3RD.
The annual Mallow 10 miler originally scheduled for early January was ran on Sunday 7th February. Three runners from Carrick made the trip down. Brian Murphy finished 3rd overall in a time of 54:32, Brian has had an excellent start to the 2010 racing season ranking highly in all races he has entered. Well done to Tommy Faulconer (01:03:06) and Patrick Roche (01:06:48)on another good performance at the 10 mile distance.
The overall winner was Colin Merritt of Carrig na bhFearr in a time of 53:17, Lorraine Manning of Raheny Shamrocks took the ladies prize coming in at 01:00:53.
WINTER LEAGUE
The Super Valu Winter league is almost at the end, current table toppers are Tommy Faulconer, Mick O'Dwyer, Vinny Murray, Melanie Ward and Matt Greene. Last week the race format Race to Zero with John Crotty, Mick O'Dwyer, Vinny Murray, Ann Cronin and Valerie O'Callaghan scooping the prizes for predicting their times. Next week Tues 16th February is a mass start beginning at 7pm. Please remember your reflective bib, no bib no run.
The Winter League prize giving will be help on Fri 19th February at 9pm in the Strand Bar, Carrick on Suir. Prizes will be awarded to the top twelve in the league table.
FIT 4 LIFE
Fit4life training sessions will commence in early March, meeting every Tuesday at 7pm in Kildalton College. An information night will be held on Tuesday February 23rd at 7pm in Kildalton College. Fit 4 Life is free to all club members, anyone who wishes to take part can sign up for membership on the information night.
Fit4Life targets beginners as well as regular runners, taking in routes in Kildalton College and surrounding areas. So, if you’re tired of running on your own or want to run but not sure how to get started, come along to Kildalton College any Tuesday at 7pm.
2010 will see the return of Fit4Life ‘on tour’ and the fun orienteering.
