'Goal Mile' A Great Success

There was a great turnout for this year's Goal Mile which began in very icy conditions at Ormonde Castle on Christmas morning.Because of the extremely slippery streets and footpaths it was decided that everyone would walk the mile, but this did nothing to dampen the enthusiasm of those gathered to support such a worthy cause.Well done to Mags Power and her team who braved the elements and collected almost 4,000 euro on Christmas Eve and a big thank-you to all who helped to make the event such a success.

Victories For Brian and Martina in Tramore

Carrick athletes were to the fore at the annual 'Baldy Man' Run on Tramore Strand on Sunday last.Brian Murphy maintained his excellent form with a fine victory with a time of 33:34 in difficult conditions. Martina O' Dwyer had a fantastic run to take the ladies' race in 38:59, following up her fine performance in the Waterford AC half-marathon.These results augur very well for Martina in the up-coming county road races. There were good performances too from Tommy Falconer (26th in 39:58) and James Fox (40th in 41:25).Well done to our four runners.
