'An Tobar' Ardmore 5
The final race in this year's Ger Wyley Sports/Nike Summer Series was the Ardmore 5-mile race on Friday last. A huge field of runners was led home by Sandis Bralitis of West Waterford AC in a time of 24:35. Madeline Loughnane (Thurles Crokes) took the ladies' race in 29:06.Carrick Roadrunner, Brian Murphy, had another excellent run to finish fourth overall in 26:49. Tommy Falconer completed all ten races in this series for the second successive year - prolific running from one of our most dedicated runners. Tommy clocked 31:08 to finish 45th, while Patrick Roche came 76th in 32:53. Seamus Ward also ran very well (33:16) and Geraldine Houlihan, our only representative in the ladies' race, clocked 39:33. Well done to our five finishers.
Deadman's 5
Omitted from last week's results were fine performances by two of our club members.John Nolan finished 50th in 32:07 and Emmet Russell was 53rd in 32:17, showing good form ahead of the county 10-mile championships scheduled for Clonmel next Sunday. We would like to see a good turnout of club members for this event, which is a great opportunity to run the 'classic' distance and prepare for any of the upcoming half-marathons or marathons.
