Carrick Road Runners Athletic Club, Co. Tipperary, Ireland

Carrick Road Runners Athletic Club Notes 14th April 2008

All credit to Clonmel AC for organising this series which is proving a big hit with both beginners and experienced runners and with a great 4.25 mile circuit this is shaping up to be a vintage year for this long running league. From a Carrick point of view it is heartening to see that we have 3 teams entered and all of the athletes involved are acquitting themselves very well each night and have ensured they will be in there with a shot of some top prizes at the end of the series.

The Carrick All Stars team is flying and with Pat O'Sullivan, Keith Barry, Tommy Falconer, Martina O'Dwyer and Ebbie Wells all going well at the moment they are sure to improve on their current position as 2nd in Division 2. The Carrick-on-Suir A team which includes Mick O'Shea, Philip Kelly, Mags Power, Bernie Sexton and Susan Collins is also a team on the up and is lying in a very impressive 7th position in Division 1. The Carrick-on-Suir B team which is only 3 places behind the All Stars include the following club runners Jimmy Power, Una Ryan, Colette Treacy, Catherine O'Donovan, Caitriona Gillane and Yvonne Kelly. Well doen to all who are travelling to Clonmel each Wednesday.

Fit 4 Life
The club's Fit 4 Life programme is in full swing in Kildalton College, Piltown (by kind permission). Our Fit 4 Life coordinators Geraldine Lynch and Jackie Dunne have been putting in trojan work over the past 2 months. It is all worth it when you see upwards of 70 runners meeting and training over various distances. Club membership has also risen and this would auger well for the club's Summer Series of road races. Just to remind all members Fit 4 Life will continue to meet each Tuesday in Kildalton College at 7 p.m. up until the first of our Summer Series of races in Rathgormack on Friday June 6th. All are welcome to join. Just come along, membership of the club costs just €30 for the year (this includes insurance) and you are sure to enjoy it! Fit 4 Life will be on tour over the next few weeks and we will be emphasising the training sessions which will take place in Rathgormack, Piltown, Ballyneale and Carrick, so watch this space!
