2014 Goal Mile
Carrick AC would like to thank all who participated in the annual Goal Mile in Carrick-on-Suir on Christmas morning. On a beautiful morning, there was a great turnout for this year's event and total funds raised were €4,093. Well done to Mags Power and her team of helpers for organising both the one-mile run and the collection in Carrick on the Saturday before Christmas.
Clonmel 4-mile Race
Over 400 runners lined up for the popular 4-mile race in Clonmel on St. Stephen's Day. The men's race was won by Kevin Cooper (Ferrybank AC) in 19:09. Siobhan O' Doherty (Borrisokane AC) took the ladies' race in 22:17. Carrick AC's first finisher on the day was Andrew Downey who clocked 23:06. Michael O' Sullivan finished in 24:15 while Ann Cronin (32:42) and Eileen Skelly (33:50) were our representatives in the ladies' race.
'Baldy Man' Tramore Race
Almost 300 runners took part in the annual 'Baldy Man' race in Tramore on Sunday, December 28th. The race was won by Dermot Cummins (West Waterford AC) in 29:25. Carrick AC's Patrick Roche finished in 14th place in a time of 35:00. Martina O' Dwyer clocked a time of 40:30 in a very encouraging return to race action while Geraldine Houlihan (51:40), Seamus Ward (52:00) and Melanie Ward (52:02) also ran very well for the club. Well done to all our runners.
Club A.G.M.
The club's Annual General Meeting will be held on this Monday, January 5th at the Carraig Hotel, Carrick-on-Suir. The meeting will commence at 8pm and all club members are invited to attend.
Sunday Training Run
A number of club members have been taking in a training run on Sunday mornings, starting at the Library in Carrick-on-Suir at 11 am each week. Any runners who are interested in joining the group will be very welcome. There are a variety of routes that may be taken so that runners can choose a distance that suits themselves.
