Deadman's 5 This Friday

The third race in this year's OutfieldSports.ie Three Counties Challenge will be the popular 'Deadman's 5'-mile road race in Carrick-on-Suir on this Friday, June 6th. Entry for the race is €10 and race registration will be at the Carrick Swan Hall, Parkside, next to the library. Changing facilities will be available. Intending entrants should note that registration must close at 7:10pm as the race start will be at 7:30pm sharp - this is due to the race route passing through the railway crossing on Cregg Road. The race start will not be delayed to accommodate late entrants so make sure you get to the Swan Hall in good time for registration. Online registration is also available on http://www.runireland.com/ Prizes for all of the usual categories will be presented at the Swan Hall as well as the post-race refreshments. The race will start at the historic Ormonde Castle (just a short jog from registration) and takes in a short lap of the town through Main Street and Sean Kelly Square before heading out into the country and onto the Deadman's Boreen. The route then returns to the town with a fast, flat finish at the Town Park. There will be a further opportunity to sample the race route on this Tuesday as the spring training group will meet at the Library at 7pm - all are welcome. Any club members who will available to act as stewards on the evening should contact Barry on 087-6243637. A large number of stewards will be required due to the many junctions on the race route and your help would be greatly appreciated. For further race details contact Brian 087-6128451 or Alan 051-641826.
