John Treacy Dungarvan '10'
A total of 1261 runners completed the course in this year's John Treacy Dungarvan 10-mile road race on Sunday last. On a fast, flat course there were some very impressive times recorded despite the damp, drizzly conditions. Sean Hehir from Rathfarnham AC led the way home in the men's race in 49:25 ahead of Paddy Hamilton (Annadale Striders) and Gary O' Hanlon (Clonliffe Harriers), both of whom also broke the 50-minute barrier. Carrick Ac's Brian Murphy came home in sixth position with a very fast 51:30. The ladies' event was won by Maria McCambridge (letterkenny AC) who clocked 55:58 ahead of leevale AC's Lizzie Lee (57:29).
A total of 15 Carrick AC runners took part and there were some very good performances including some personal best times. Tommy Falconer's time of 57:57 was his best ever for 10 miles. Patrick Roche was also well under the one-hour mark. Jackie Power was our first lady finisher in a time of 75:31.
