Walls of Fethard Race     
 
The annual 'Walls of Fethard' 4-mile road race on Thursday night last was won by Pat Byrne (Tinryland) from Declan Doherty (Thurles Crokes).Brendan Cronin was the first Carrick AC man to finish , clocking 24:27 and taking second prize in the O/50 category.Mark Connolly (26:11) , John O' Meara (27:55) and Eamonn O' Meara (28:12) were our other reprsentatives in the men's race.
The ladies' race was won by Siobhan O' Doherty (Borrisokane) in a time of 23:02 with Margaret Danagher (Templemore) in second.There was a great battle for third place between Aine Roche (Clonmel) and Carrick AC's Clare Annan.In a sprint to the line, it was Clare who proved just the stronger to claim third prize.Teresa Cunningham continues to run very well and was second O/40 in a time of 28:12.Our next finisher was Nanette O' Connell in 29:26 while Ann Cronin won the O/45 ladies' prize with a time of 30:58.
 
Ras na Rinne
 
There was also a strong Carrick AC team for the Mooney's Bar Ras na Rinne over six miles of road and sand on Friday night last.Brian Murphy put in a great performance to take victory in the men's race by well over a minute from Philip Harty.This run confirms Brian's return to full fitness and he will no doubt be a leading contender in many of this summer's races. David Waters is running very consistently and finished in fourth place here.Tommy Falconer and Patrick Roche came home in seventh and ninth places respectively.Our first lady finisher was Geraldine Houlihan, just ahead of Aisling Skeritt.Bernie Sexton won first prize in the ladies' O/55 category.Full Carrick AC results:

Outfield Sports Three-Counties Challenge  
 
The 2011 Outfield Sports Three-Counties Challenge will get underway on Friday,June 10th with the running of the Carraig Hotel Deadman's 5-mile road race.This popular race will begin at Ormonde Castle,Carrick-on-Suir at 7:30pm sharp.The route will take runners along Carrick's main street and through Sean Kelly Square before heading out into the country to complete the Deadman's loop. The finish will be at the Park in Carrick-on-Suir.Registration from 6pm will be at the Carrick Swan GAA club beside the Garda Barracks.Entry is e10.
