A field of 132 athletes lined up for the annual Poulmucka 8km road race on Friday evening last.In the men's race, Carrick Roadrunners were very much to the fore with David Waters running a fantastic race when just pipped for first place by Declan Doherty (Thurles Crokes) in a sprint to the line.Only three seconds separated these two runners and Carrick's Tommy Falconer was hot on their heels in third place with a time of 27:59.Patrick Roche finished in seventh with another fine run.The ever-consistent Brendan Cronin (30:45) once again took first O/50 prize.
In the ladies' race,there was a comfortable win for Siobhan Doherty (Borrisokane) from Margaret Danagher (Templemore).There was a welcome return to action from Carrick AC's Martina O' Dwyer who was fourth lady home.Claire Annan ran very well to clock 32:41.There were also very good performances from Teresa Cunningham, Nanette O' Connell and Ann Cronin.

Outfield Sports Three Counties Challenge
 
The annual summer series of four races organised by our club, the Outfield Sports Three Counties Challenge, is only just around the corner.This very popular series affords runners the opportunity of competing over distances of 5km, 5 miles and 10km in the three neighbouring counties of Tipperary, Kilkenny and Waterford.All courses are accurately measured and AAI permit approved. Entry is e10 per race ( or e35 for the full series). All runners who complete 3 of the 4 races will receive a series souvenir while those who complete all 4 will receive a e25 ASICS voucher for Outfield Sports. The races are ;
Race 1 : Friday,June 10th,7:30pm - The Carraig Hotel Deadman's '5'
Race 2 : Friday, July 1st 7:30pm - The Champion Kiely Ballyneale 5k sponsored by Mr. Binman
Race 3 : Friday, July 15th 7:30pm - MorrisOil.ie Piltown 10km
Race 4 : Friday, August 5th 7:30pm - AutoPower Rathgormack '5' 
 
Prestige Lighting Fit-for-Life
 
The Tuesday night meet 'n train programme continues to attract good numbers to Kildalton College each week.Many of the runners are looking forward to competing in their first race when the summer series gets underway in a few weeks' time.For an enjoyable run just come along to Kildalton any Tuesday evening at 7pm.All are welcome.
