Carrick  Athletes Impress in Kilmacthomas
The Bausch and Lomb Klmacthomas 5-mile road race attracted a field of 176 runners to the county Waterford village on Sunday last. No fewer than eighteen Carrick AC athletes took part in this ever-popular race.Martina O'Dwyer took victory in the ladies' race in an impressive time of 30:03 ahead of Waterford AC's Sylvia Malone.Claire Annou ran a very good race to finish in 31:55,showing the benefit of all those solid Winter League runs over the past few months.Ann Cronin,Geraldine Clery and Lisa Backley all showed good early-season form and will be well pleased with their runs.
 
The first two places in the men's race went to West Waterford's Sandis Bralitis and Ravis Zakis.Carrick AC's Michael Murphy ran a fantastic race to finish third in 27:23.Michael is one of the most improved runners on the circuit and there is more to come from this talented athlete.Tommy Falconer (28:58), David Waters (29:02),Patrick Roche (29:07) and Johnny Brunnock (29:54) all ran very strongly to break the magical 30-minute barrier. Cornelius MacFadden (30:50), Brendan Cronin (31:06), Michael O' Connell (31:37),David Foley (31:44), Tom Egan (32:14), Gordon Collins (34:55), Raymond Burke (34:58) and Vincent Murray (37:00) were the other Carrick roadrunners to take part.Well done to all our runners.
 
County 'Novice' Road Championships
The Tipperary 'Novice' Road Races will be held in Clonmel on Sunday next,February 27th at 12 noon.Many of the runners who participated in the Kilmacthomas race will be eligible for this race and it is hoped that a strong team will represent our club.For further information contact James Fox (086-2544150).
 
Super-Valu Winter League 
This year's Super-Valu Winter League will have concluded on this Tuesday,February 22nd and a full report will be included in next week's notes.There are many runners vying for the top positions in this year's event and Tuesday night's run will decide the overall finishing order. Among those in contention are Clare Howlin,Geraldine Clery, Vinny Murray, Barry Torpey,Maura O' Neill, Nanette O' Connell and Eamonn O' Meara.With a mass-start for this run, an exciting finish is guaranteed. Prize-giving will take place in the Strand Bar on Friday, March 11th from 9pm.
