Martina is County Novice Champion

The cross-country season got underway at Clonmel Racecourse on Sunday last with the Tipperary 'Novice' races . Carrick Roadrunners' Martina O' Dwyer got the season off to a flying start when taking a convincing victory in the ladies' race.One of our club's most improved athletes over the past year, Martina will no doubt be hoping to complete the double in the county intermediate championships in a few weeks' time.Ann Cronin once again put in a solid performance for the club in this race.In the men's race ,Patrick Roche put in a great effort to finish fifth behind winner Danny Smith from Ballynonty.Tommy Falconer, Keith Barry,Andrew Downey and Gordon Collins also ran very well and will be looking forward to competing in the Novice 'B' race shortly. Well done to all our runners.

'Cork to Cobh' Road Race

The annual 'Cork to Cobh' race over a distance of 15 miles is traditionally used as a preparatory run by many athletes who intend to run the Dublin City Marathon. Five of our runners made the journey to Cork and all will be satisfied with their current level of form. Michael Murphy was our first finisher in an excellent time of 1hour 32 mins.David Waters clocked very fast time of 1hour 33mins, followed by Johnny Brunnock (1:37) and James Fox (1:38). Raymond Burke (1:46) and Tom Egan (1:52) also had good runs.

'My Dress' One-Mile Challenge

The one-mile series continued last Tuesday evening at the Sean Kelly Sports Centre.It was Patrick Roche who led the way ahead of Tommy Falconer and Martina O' Dwyer.There will be a full update on the series in next week's club notes


Super-Valu Winter League
Our Winter League provides a great opportunity for those who wish to take up running for the first time or who wish to come back to the sport after a break.This year's League will get underway on Tuesday,November 2nd and will once again be sponsored by SuperValu, Carrick-on-Suir.The venue each week will be Kildalton College in Piltown and all are welcome.Further details over the next few weeks!
