Waterford AC Half Marathon
The annual Waterford AC Half Marathon attracted a bumper field of over 1,700 runners on Saturday last and Carrick AC was well represented in this popular event. Our first finisher on the day was Aaron O'Donnell in a time of 1:22:03. Our first lady finisher was Deirdre Walsh in a time of 1:54:50. The other Carrick AC finishers to enjoy a great event were; Michael O'Sullivan (1:26:51), James Fox (1:30:49), Eoghan Coughlan (1:37:14), Brian Graham (1:38:00), Barry Torpey (1:38:53), Darren O'Loughlin (1:41:04), Tom Egan (1:48:22), Derek O'Dwyer (1:51:45), Maura O'Neill, 1:56:05, Bernie Sexton (2:00:09), Catherine O'Donovan (2:00:10), Mags Power (2:00:27), Sinéad Nagle (2:07:55), Geraldine Houlihan (2:09:56) and Ber Glascott (2:19:26). Well done to all our runners, many of whom were completing their first ever half marathon. All enjoyed a great evening at the club's Christmas night out on Saturday night.
Munster Intermediate Cross-Country
Well done also to Carrick AC's Patrick Roche who travelled to Clarecastle on Sunday for the Munster Intermediate Cross-Country Championships. Patrick ran a great race to finish in 21st position overall. Patrick was a member of the Tipperary team to finish fourth in the Inter-County competition.
Goal Mile 2016
The 10th annual Goal Mile will be held in Carrick-on-Suir on Christmas morning at the usual time of 11am. Starting at Ormond Castle, the run/walk will take the usual route through the Main Street and Sean Kelly Square, along the quays and finishing on the Main Street. There will be mulled wine or a cup of tea and Christmas cake at the finish for all participants. So please come along and lend your support to this very worthwhile cause, helping the very neediest at this special time of year. Mags Power and her helpers will also hold a street collection in Carrick-on-Suir on Saturday, December 17th and your support would be greatly appreciated.
