Silver for Brian at County 10-mile Championships

Despite the wet and windy conditions last Sunday, there was a very good turnout for the Tipperary 10-mile road-race championships in Clonmel. The men's race was won by Christopher Bracken of Thurles Crokes with a fine run of just over 54 minutes. The silver medal went to Carrick Roadrunners' Brian Murphy in an excellent time of 56:11 .This was a fantastic achievement by Brian, who has seen significant improvements in his race times throughout the season.Third place went to Shane Mullaney from Thurles Crokes, winners of the team event. Our second finisher was Tommy Falconer (22nd in 66:30), with Mark Connolly (24th in 66:52) and James Fox (25th in 67:03) not far behind. This gave our team a total of 70 points and fourth place overall. Our next three men home were Andrew Downey(26th in 67:17), Michael O' Loughlin (31st in 67:58) and Keith Barry 36th in 69:06). This team finished level on points with Clonmel in the 'B' team category and were only denied the gold medals on countback. Also running very well for Carrick were Brendan Cronin, Patrick Roche, Seamus Ward, Tom Egan , Andrew O' Meara and Mick O' Shea.

Gold Medal for Ann Power

The ladies' title was retained by last year's winner, Madeline Loughnane of Thurles Crokes in 63:00. Second place went to Angela McCann (Clonmel) ahead of her clubmate, Kealey Tideswell. Clonmel were clear winners of the ladies' team prize.
Our own club were represented by just two runners, Ann Power and her daughter, Jacqui- two of our most dedicated athletes.Ann took the gold medal for the O/45 category , while Jacqui smashed her personal best time for the 10-mile distance. Well done to all our runners who braved the inclement weather to represent their club.
