Carrick Road Runners Athletic Club, Co. Tipperary, Ireland

The Tipperary Intermediate Road Championships were hosted by Carrick AC in Faugheen on Sunday, 6th March and there was a good turnout for both the men's and ladies' races.

The ladies' 4k event was run over the very fast, flat route which has proved very popular with runners in the Faugheen 5k race over the past few years. Aine Roche from Clonmel AC set the pace right from the start and came home a clear winner in a time of 14:54. Ballynonty AC's Phil Ryan prevailed in a great battle with Linda Grogan from Dundrum AC for the silver medal. Carrick AC's team was led home by Mary Molloy in eighth place. Geraldine Houlihan, Catherine O' Donovan, Jackie Dunne, Fiona Lonergan and Sinead Dunne all ran well for Carrick AC in a field of 31 runners.

The men's race was run over 8k - two laps of the Faugheen circuit. This race also saw a very clear winner in Denis Shanahan from Thurles Crokes who clocked an impressive time of 26:21. In second place was Jimmy Boland of Clonmel AC in 26:51. Carrick AC's Aaron O' Donnell ran a fine race to take the bronze medal in a time of 27:02. Patrick Roche was also in great form and finished in sixth pace. Michael O' Sullivan and Eoghan Coughlan completed the scoring for the Carrick 'A' team, giving a total of 58 points. This was just two points short of the bronze medal position in the team event, which was won by Thurles Crokes (24 pts) from Clonmel AC (42 pts) and Dundrum AC (56 pts). Carrick AC had a total of  ten representatives in the race - Brian Graham, Brendan Cronin, Ger Murphy, Seamus Ward, James Fox and Mark Connolly all ran well in the club colours. Well done to all our runners.
