Great Success for Carrick AC Masters In Clonmel
 
Carrick AC runners enjoyed a very successful day at the County Tipperary Masters' Road Championships held in Clonmel on Sunday. Brian Murphy took the gold medal for overall winner and Derek Walsh was the bronze medal winner in the Men's O/35 category. There were silver medals for Brian, Derek, Patrick Roche and Andrew Downey as the men's team finished second in the O/35 category. There were great runs also from the four members of the second Carrick AC team -Michael O' Sullivan, Seamus Ward, Tom Egan and Barry Torpey.
 
Carrick AC's ladies were also very much to the fore on the day. The silver medals in the O/50 team event went to Carrick's Maura O' Neill, Ann Cronin and Ger Houlihan while Maura also took silver in the O/50 individual category. Mary Molloy also enjoyed a very good run for the club. Well done to all twelve Carrick AC runners.
 
 
 
Recent Road Race Results
 
Brian Murphy has been enjoying a great run of form in recent weeks. Brian took first place at the Bausch and Lomb Kilmacthomas 5-mile race with a time of 26:08. Trevor Power (Waterford AC) was runner-up in this event. Ger Houlihan was our club's other representative in Kilmacthomas and came home in a time of 42:58.    
 
At the Anne Valley 5-mile race in Dunhill, Brian Murphy was runner-up to Kevin Maunsell (Clonmel AC). Brian's time was 26:33. Patrick Roche also finished in the top ten with a time of 30:41.
 
On Sunday last at the Deise College 10 km race in Dungarvan, Carrick AC's Ger Murphy finished in 43:36.
 
 
 
County Intermediate Championships in Faugheen
 
Preparations are well underway for our club's hosting of this year's Tipperary Intermediate road races on Sunday, 6th March in Faugheen at 12 noon. Club members are asked to come along to Faugheen and represent Carrick AC at county level. The men's race will be over 8km with four to score on each team. The ladies will race over 4km and three athletes will score for each team.
 
 
Club Training
 
Club training sessions with expert running coach, James Sullivan, will continue on this Tuesday, 23rd February at 7:15pm on the running track at the Sean Kelly Sports Centre.
