Ballyneale 5k
There was a field of 160 runners for the Champion Kiely 5k in Ballyneale on Friday evening last. The men's race was won by Kenneth Rogers (St. Johns AC) in 15:03 and Aine Roche (Clonmel AC) took the ladies' race. Carrick AC were represented in the men's race by Michael O' Sullivan (18:44), James Fox (19:57), Tom Egan (20:00), Barry Torpey (20:30), Michael Freaney (20:48) and Martin Brophy (23:07). Our ladies were led home by Maura O' Neill (23:23), followed by Mags Power (23:56), Ann Cronin (25:00), Helena Walsh (27:59), Sinead Nagle (28:02),Lisa Bartley (28:04) and Sinead Dunne (28:51). Well done to all our runners.
Waterford Viking Marathon
Over 2,500 runners took to the roads in Waterford on Saturday for the annual Waterford Viking Marathon, Half-Marathon and Quarter-Marathon. In the full marathon over 26.2 miles, Tom Hogan from Sliabh Buidhe Rovers and Pauline Curley from Tullamore Harriers were the winners. Carrick AC's Brian Murphy had a great run to finish fourth in 2:40:35 and Ger Murphy made his marathon debut with a fine run to finish in 3:58:11. In the half-marathon Derek Walsh finished in fifth place with a time of 1:17:37 while Brian Graham clocked a time of 1:37:16.
Dromana 5
At the recent Dromana 5-mile road race, Brian Murphy enjoyed a comprehensive win in a time of 26:26 with Danny Smith (Ballynonty AC) second in 27:24. Patrick Roche finished in 33:04 and Geraldine Houlihan was our club's sole representative in the ladies' race, finishing in 42:49.
AutoPower Rathgormack 5
The fourth race in this year's OutfieldSports.ie Three-Counties Challenge will be the AutoPower Rathgormack 5 on Friday, 10th July at 7:30pm. Registration will be at the Hiking Centre in the village from 6pm and race entry is €10. There will be a chance to preview the course with its stunning scenery on Tuesday, 7th July when our club training night will be over the race route.
