Carrick Road Runners Athletic Club, Co. Tipperary, Ireland
Deadman's '5'

Conditions were ideal for the 138 runners who lined up for this year's Deadman's 5-mile road race in Carrick-on-Suir on Friday evening. The race was the third in the 2015 OutfieldSports.ie Three-Counties Challenge, a series of five races in counties Tipperary, Waterford and Kilkenny organised by Carrick-on-Suir AC. The race started at the historic Ormonde Castle, passing along the town's Main Street and through Sean Kelly Square before heading out into the country and negotiating the 'Deadman's Boreen'.

The men's race was won in very convincing style by Kevin Maunsell from Clonmel AC. Kevin's time of 24:45 was the fastest winning time for this event since 2009. In second place was the 2014 winner of this race, Niall Sheil from St. Killian's AC. Danny Smith (Ballynonty AC) was third in 26:36. Carrick AC's first finisher was Derek Walsh who finished in seventh place with a time of 28:11.

Siobhan O' Doherty (Borrisokane AC) was a clear winner of the ladies' race in 28:26, finishing in eighth place overall. Siobhan was completing a hat-trick of victories in the race, having won the event in 2011 and 2013. In second place was Sally Forristal (St. Joseph's AC) in 31:47 with Angela McCann (Clonmel AC) third in 32:33. Carrick AC's first finisher was Mary Molloy who took the O/35 prize with a time of 34:15.
Two pairs of New Balance runners were raffled after the race and the lucky winners were Con Kelleher and Geraldine Houlihan.

Carrick AC would like to thank all who helped to make this race such a great success. In particular, the club is very grateful to Alan Treacy of Outfield Sports for the continued sponsorship of the race series. Stewarding is vitally important in a race which passes through the town and we would like to thank Barry Torpey and his team for ensuring the safety of all. The assistance of the local Garda Siochana and Carrick-on-Suir Red Cross was also greatly appreciated. A big thank-you also to all who helped with race timing, registration and results. The Carrick Swan GAA club was once again our race headquarters and we would like to thank the club for the use of their superb facilities.

The Three-Counties Challenge moves to County Waterford next for the AutoPower Rathgormack '5' on Friday, 10th July at 7:30pm.
