Gordon Collins is SuperValu Winter League Winner 

 
The 2014 SuperValu Winter League concluded at Kildalton College, Piltown on Tuesday evening last with the last of this year's eleven 5km runs on the college grounds. Each runner's lowest eight scores over the course of the league were added and ,when all the sums were done, it was Gordon Collins who emerged victorious with a total of 40 points. Fittingly, Gordon recorded his fastest time of the series (21:09) on Tuesday. Second prize in this year's league went to Anne Phelan who only took up running at the start of this year's competition. Anne finished with a total of 56 points, ahead of third-placed Gerard Murphy on 70 points.

2014 Goal Mile    
 
The Goal Mile has by now become established as part of the Christmas tradition in Carrick-on-Suir and this year's renewal will start from Ormonde Castle on Christmas morning at the usual time of 11 am. The runners, joggers and walkers will finish on the Main Street where there will be mulled wine and some sweet treats for everyone.
The Goal Mile team of volunteers will be collecting for the charity on Saturday next, December 20th at various locations around the town. Please support this most worthy cause and, if you are available to help out, please contact Mags Power or any of the committee members.
