SuperValu Winter League

The final run in this year's SuperValu Winter League will take place over the 5km route in Kildalton College, Piltown on this Tuesday, December 9th at 7pm. After last week's mass start, the format reverts to the handicap system used since the league started. The clock will start at 7 pm sharp.  The prize-giving for the overall winners will be held in Piltown National School (just down the road from Kildalton) and there will refreshments for all who come along.

Waterford Half-Marathon

The Waterford Half-Marathon on Saturday last saw the course records in both the men's and ladies' races smashed. Martin Fagan ran a time of 1:04:16 to comfortably win the men's race and Lizzie Lee (Leevale AC) clocked 1:14:30 in the ladies' event. Carrick AC members achieved some impressive times also. Brian Murphy finished in eighth place in a field of over 1,500 runners with a time of 1:11:31. Our next finisher was Derek Walsh in 1:20:01 with Aaron O' Donnell close behind in 1:21:23. Pat O' Sullivan (1:25:55), Michael O' Sullivan (1:27:51), Tom Egan (1:34:44), Brian Graham (1:40:05) and Emer O' Brien (1:58:07) all put in very good performances for Carrick AC. Well done to all our runners.

Goal Mile on Christmas Morning

The Goal Mile has by now become established as part of the Christmas tradition in Carrick-on-Suir and this year's renewal will start from Ormonde Castle on Christmas morning at the usual time of 11 am. The runners, joggers and walkers will finish on the Main Street where there will be mulled wine and some sweet treats for everyone. The Goal Mile team of volunteers will be collecting for the charity on Saturday, December 20th at various locations around the town. Please support this most worthy cause and, if you are available to help out, please contact Mags Power or any of the committee members.
