Carrick Road Runners Athletic Club, Co. Tipperary, Ireland

All-Ireland Novice Cross-Country Championships

Three Carrick AC runners were chosen to represent Tipperary at the National Novice Cross-Country Championships in Carriganore, Waterford on Sunday last. Over a very challenging course, all three put in fine performances. In the ladies' race there were 120 participants and Carrick AC's Martina O' Dwyer produced another fantastic performance to take fourth place with a strong finish. Martina was just five seconds behind the bronze medal winner and the Tipperary team finished sixth in the inter-county points. In the men's race there was a superb victory for Sean Tobin from Clonmel AC with Andrew Connick (Ferrybank AC) in second place. Carrick AC's Brian Murphy was the third Tipperary athlete to finish as he came home in 21st place and helped secure the bronze medals in the inter-county competition. Patrick Roche ran a very good race also and came home 97th in a field of more than 220 runners. Well done from all in the club to our three representatives.

Goal Mile on Christmas Morning

Don't forget the Goal Mile which will take place in Carrick-on-Suir as usual on Christmas morning. All are welcome to support this very worthy cause by running, jogging or walking the one-mile route through the town. Start time is 11am from Ormonde Castle and there will be mulled wine for all participants at the finish line in Main Street.
