Faugheen 5k This Friday
 
The 2013 Outfieldsports.ie  3 Counties Challenge gets underway on this Friday evening, April 26th, with a brand new race over 5km in the beautiful village of Faugheen just four miles outside Carrick-on-Suir. This new race has been very kindly sponsored by Bobby FitzGerald Accounting, Carrick-on-Suir and is certain to become a popular race with all athletes as the course is particularly fast. The accurately-measured route has been used in the past for the well-known Faugheen 50 motorbike circuit and has a full AAI permit. Entry to the race costs €10 and race registration will be from 6pm in the hall beside the church with the race starting at 7:30pm. Online entries will be accepted until Thursday onhttp://www.runireland.com/ . Entry for the complete series of five races can be availed of for €45 and there will be a €25 voucher for Adidas running shoes at Outfield Sports for any runners who complete four of the five races.
 
As well as the €200 prize money, the race winner will receive the Gerry Moran Perpetual Cup and there are generous prizes for the first three men and ladies to finish. Prizes will be on offer, as usual, in the following categories : Ladies - O/35, O/40, O/45, O/50 and O/55   Men - O/40, O/45, O/50, O/55 and O/60. There will also be a prize for first male and female U/19.
 
The all-important post-race refreshments and prize-giving (as well as much chat!) will take place in Fleming's bar in the village. For a very enjoyable run over a flat, fast course you really should be in Faugheen for the first ever Bobby FitzGerald Accounting 5k on Friday!

Marine Climb
 
Well done to Carrick AC members,Patrick Roche and Geraldine Houlihan ,who took on the challenge of the 6-mile Marine Climb in Dungarvan recently. Patrick came home in an excellent time of 35:34 and finished in sixth place overall. Geraldine won the O/50 category in the ladies' race with a time of 52:30.     
 
Butlerstown 10k
 
Carrick AC was well represented at the Butlerstown 10k road race on Friday evening last when 249 runners completed the course.  The race was won by Ravis Zakis (West Waterford) in a time of 32:57. The ladies' race was won by Siobhan Doherty (Borrisokane) in a very fast 34:34. Carrick AC's first finisher was David Waters in sixth place with a time of 35:04 while our first lady over the line was Emer O' Brien in 46:22. Other Carrick AC finishers were: Tommy Falconer 36:22    Tom Egan 40:57    Geraldine Houlihan 49:42   Sean O' Donovan 50:03   Catherine O' Donovan 51:42. Well done to all our runners.
