Martina O' Dwyer and Patrick Roche have been busy competing on the indoor tracks recently. Both Carrick AC members ran as guests at the Leinster Indoor Championships in Athlone. Patrick finished third in the men's Over-35 3,000 metres in a time of 9:47. Martina won the Senior Ladies' 3,000 metres in a new Over-35 Irish record of 10:24. At the All-Ireland Masters' Indoor Championships which were also held in Athlone, Martina won the Over-35's gold medal in a sprint finish with Pauline Curley (Tullamore Harriers). Martina's recorded a time of 10:25 for the 3km event. Patrick also ran very well in the men's race, clocking a time of 9:48. Well done to both of our runners.
 
Anne Valley 5
 
There was a total of 485 finishers at the Anne Valley 5-mile road race in Dunhill last Saturday and Carrick AC runners were in good form over the challenging course. Brian Murphy put in a fine run to finish in third place (26:33) behind Philip Harty (25:09) and Sandis Bralitis (25:46). David Waters showed that he is returning to his very best form with a time of 28:53. Other Carrick AC finishers were Tommy Falconer (29:48), Derek Walsh (29:59), Corwin O' Brien (33:18), Tom Doherty (33:53) and Tom Egan (34:32).
 
Fit-4-Life
 
The Fit-4-Life group enjoyed a very good introduction to interval training on Tuesday last in Kildalton College. The group meets every Tuesday at the college (7 pm) and runners and joggers of all abilities are very welcome to join and enjoy the benefits of group training.
