Record Turnout at AutoPower '5'

Rathgormack was the venue for the annual AutoPower 5-mile road race on Friday evening last and the entry of 153 runners was a record for this event. This year's race was the third of four races in the Outfield Sports Three-Counties Challenge. There were some very impressive performances over what is a challenging course. The men's race was won in fine style by West Waterford AC's Sandis Bralitis in an excellent time of 25:46. Niall Sheil from St. Killian's AC was runner-up for the second consecutive year, bettering last year's time by18 seconds when clocking 26:54. In third place was James Sullivan in 27:08. Carrick AC's first man to finish was the always consistent Patrick Roche in sixth place. Brendan Cronin was our next finisher, taking first prize in the O/50 category with a time of 31:02. In the ladies' race there was a very clear-cut victory for Angela McCann (Clonmel AC) in a superb time of 29:48. Angela's club-mate Aine Roche took second place ahead of Diane Behan (Waterford AC). Carrick AC's ladies were led home by Emer O' Brien in 37:00. This earned Emer the first prize in the O/40 category.Carrick AC would like to thank all who helped to make this year's race such a success.T hanks to all who undertook stewarding duties and who assisted with race registration and results.Thanks also to Carrick-on-Suir Red Cross for once again providing their first aid expertise.A special word of thanks to the Brunnock family for the huge contribution they make to the organisation of this race every year. The final race in this year's series will be the MorrisOil.ie Piltown 10k race on Friday, August 3rd at 7:30pm. County Medals for Carrick AC Athletes
 
The County Senior and Masters Track and Field  Championships were held in Templemore on Wednesday last. Carrick AC's Shane Prout took gold in the Senior Men's Long Jump and silver in the High Jump. Cormac Fahey won silver in the Senior Men's 100m while Patrick Roche took bronze in the 1500m. Cornelius MacFadden won gold in the O/45 100m and Shot Putt. In the county 10-mile road race held in Ballynonty on Saturday evening last,Theresa Cunningham won the bronze medal in 69:20. Well done to all our athletes. 
 
Fit-4-Life
 
The fit-4-life meet 'n train evenings will afford runners an opportunity to try out the route for the upcoming MorrisOil.ie Piltown 10k over the next two Tuesday evenings, July 17th and 24th. Runners will meet at Kildalton College gates at 7pm (parking available at Piltown GAA Club across the road). All are welcome
