 Clogheen 5k   

 
There was a great turnout for this year's 5k race in Clogheen on Thursday last. The men's race was won by Raivis Zakis (West Waterford) and Angela McCann (Clonmel) took the ladies' race.A number of Carrick AC athletes made the journey and were rewarded with some fine performances, including two category wins. Brendan Cronin won the O/50 category in a time of 18:16 while Theresa Cunningham was the first lady O/40 to cross the line.

Ballymacarbry 5  

On Friday evening last the annual 5-mile road race took place in Ballymacarbry with a field of 120 runners.Carrick AC's Brian Murphy cemented his position as series leader with another excellent win in a time of 25:53. Frank Quinlan (Waterford AC) followed Brian home in 26:28 with Paul Deegan (Gowran AC) third in 27:42. Carrick AC had some other excellent performances on the night. Tommy Falconer (29:19) was sixth, Patrick Roche was just two seconds behind Tommy in seventh and David Waters (29:38) was hot on their heels. Johnny Brunnock returned to race action with a time of 31:41.Paddy Brunnock and Sean O' Donovan clocked times of 37:00 and 39:47 respectively. Well done to all our runners.
 
Ballynonty 10-miles
 
The very popular annual 10-mile road race organised by Ballynonty AC was held in warm conditions on Sunday last. Full results are not to hand but Cornelius McFadden led home the Carrick AC contingent with a very good run in just over 64 minutes.Brendan Cronin continued his good form, finishing in 66 minutes. Tom Egan also broke the 70-minute barrier with a well-paced 69:35. Theresa Cunningham was our only lady participant and made a fine debut at the 10-mile distance with a time of 76 minutes.
 
AutoPower Rathgormack 5 this Friday!
 
The fourth and final race in this year's Outfield Sports Three-Counties Challenge is the AutoPower Rathgormack 5-mile race on this Friday,August 5th at 7:30pm. Entry costs €10 and registration will be at the Hiking Centre in the village from 6:00pm. There will be prizes in all the usual categories and runners who complete all four races in the series will receive a €25 Asics voucher for Outfield Sports.
