Carrick Road Runners Athletic Club, Co. Tipperary, Ireland

 MorrisOil.ie Piltown 10k

The MorrisOil.ie 10k road race attracted a field of 163 runners to Piltown on Friday evening last. This was the third of the four races in this year's Outfield Sports Three-Counties Challenge and conditions were perfect for running. In the men's race, there was a very clear winner in Carrick AC's Brian Murphy who came home over a minute ahead of Frank Quinlan (Waterford AC).In third place was Paul Deegan (Gowran AC).
This was Brian's second win in this year's series following his win at the Deadman's 5  and it puts him in a strong position to retain the overall title which he won for the first time last year. His winning time was a very impressive 32:23.
It proved a very successful evening for Carrick AC athletes as Pat O' Sullivan won the O/45 category in a time of 35:12 and Brendan Cronin took first O/50 prize in 37:37.Victory in the team event also went to Carrick AC with Michael Murphy, David Waters and Tommy Falconer all putting in excellent performances.
The ladies' race was won in great style by Clonmel AC's Angela McCann who clocked 38:28 ahead of Claire Annan (Carrick AC) and Mary Molloy (Clonmel AC).Theresa Cunningham and Nanette O' Connell put in fine runs and were the second and third Carrick AC ladies to finish.
Carrick AC would like to thank all who helped to make this year's race such a great success. Thanks to the many stewards who ensured the safety of all runners, to Carrick-on-Suir Red Cross for their assistance and to those who helped with race registration and results.Special thanks to Mick Ryan for providing the lead motorbike. The club is very grateful for the use of Piltown GAA Club's excellent facilities and to Kildalton Horticultural College for the use of their grounds. Thanks also to race sponsor, Morris Oil, for their continued support of this hugely popular event.
Our very hard-working committee are now turning their efforts to the final race of this year's series, the AutoPower Rathgormack 5-mile race on Friday, August 5th at 7:30pm.All runners who complete the four races will receive a €25 ASICS voucher for Outfield Sports and there will be a series souvenir for those who complete three of the races.
