Rathgormack 5 mile Friday 6th August 2010

Friday last saw the conclusion to the popular Outfield Sports Three Counties Challenge take place in Rathgormack Co. Waterford, in what was a very successful summer series for 2010. The number of participants in each race was up on previous years,it is great to have so many runners enter from other counties as well as our own club runners.A large number of walkers took part on the night also,both runners and walkers faced a tough route but that did'nt put off the winners of the race Brian Murphy and Angela McCann.The race which was in aid of the Rathgormack playground was kindly sponsored by AUTOPOWER of Carrick-on-Suir to whom the club is grateful to for doing so.

Congratulations to Brian Murphy of Carrick-on-Suir AC who won the race in a great time of (26mins 41sec).Brian was awarded the Joanne O' Donughue memorial cup for winning the race and Brian also won the overall series which is the first time a Carrick runner has done so.Well done to Brian!
Second place went to Patrick Hogan of Ferrybank AC in (27mins 06sec) and third went to Pat Heffernan of Fethard AC (28mins 41sec).The ladies race was won by Angela McCann of Clonmel AC in (30min 28sec) closely followed in second place by Martina O' Dwyer of Carrick AC (30min 30sec).In third place Laura Behan of Kilkenny City Harriers (31min 51sec).The team prizes both went to Carrick-on-Suir AC-MENS team:(Tommy Falconer,David Waters,Daragh Byrne) and LADIES team (Ann Cronin,Tara O' Donnell,Shirley O' Shea)

To the Rathgormack Hiking center for the use of their facilities ,to all the local ladies who prepared the post race refreshments. Thanks again to the gardai and the Irish Red Cross for their assistance,and to the stewards and everyone who helped out on the night. Thanks to Johnny Brunnock ,Mark Connolly (chairman) for all their time and hard work in organising each race and to Aoife Conway and Daragh Byrne for looking after the results .
