Why not take part in the September 1-mile Challenge, kindly sponsored this year by 'My Dress'? The series begins on Tuesday, September 8th at 6:30pm on the Sean Kelly Sports Centre track and will run for four consecutive Tuesdays. Simply walk, jog or run one mile at your own pace and see your times improve over the four weeks.This is an ideal way to build up your speed and strength to take part in our winter league which starts in early November. County Masters Road Races
The last of this year's county championship road races was the 'Masters' event over 6km held in Ballyonty on Saturday last. First man home was Kenny Curran (Ballynonty AC) while Angela McCann (Clonmel AC) led home the ladies.Our own Ann Power continued her excellent recent form when taking gold in the O/45 category and the silver medal went to Ann Cronin who made a very encouraging return to racing.Well done , ladies!
Our men's team of Mark Connolly(17th in 22:59), James Fox(19th in 23:12), Keith Barry(20th in 23:16), Michael O' Loughlin (24th in 23:38) and Brendan Cronin (26th in 23:54) all broke the 24-minute barrier for 6km with solid performances.Now for the cross-country season, lads!!
Kilmore Quay 10km
Three of our runners made the journey to Kilmore Quay on Saturday last for the 10km road race. Martina O' Dwyer won fifth senior ladies' prize with a personal best time of 40:56. Tommy Falconer clocked 38:14 and Patrick Roche came home in 41 minutes.
Geraldine Competes in Quebec Marathon
Congratulations to our own club member, Geraldine Houlihan, who ran in the SSQ Quebec Marathon in Canada on Sunday. Geraldine completed the 26.2 mile route in 4 hours and 13 minutes, showing that all those long training runs really do pay off! Well done from all in the club.
